This kind of got buried under paperwork, but since its an on-going series now, I didn’t want to miss an episode in our archive rolls. In this Animation Analysis by gbeaudette he analyzes zip lines, as in the animation technique you see when characters take off at high speed (and not the fun kind you hang from). Full video after the page break.

  • I always find these little tech excursions fascinating, simply because so many things happen on the screen that I can’t possibly notice them all. The idea that somebody does, and can explain them, is deeply satisfying in an otherwise-confusing universe.

He explains it wrong. I made a video showing how the show actually creates the these. I made it a response to his video but he never approved it.

well i learned something about illy from watching your vid. so, thanks for that. but i gotta disagree. it’s really not true to call his method ‘wrong’. its just different. he clearly put a lot of thought and consideration into making his animation analysis series, so.. i dunno, maybe im reading into this too much, but.. i think it’s a little under-handed to try and tear him down over one minor little technical detail.
