Well in the past month we’ve been kind of flooded by convention announcements, seems to be the thing to do this year. But please keep in mind there is a difference between an actual convention and a large meetup. As posted in our Convention Digest post last Friday, we will be making judgement calls about this in terms of announcements. DHN generally does not deal with meetups, that’s another site’s thing. Conventions in the general term should be multiple days with a structure behind it that general cons have, such as panels, rooms, booths, artist alley, events, etc. Initial announcements will be given their own post, while updates on guests and other announcements will appear in our weekly (when needed) Convention Digest article that will appear Friday afternoon / evening.

Fyi, there are two other convention announcements coming up in the next 12 hours.

Name: Midwestria

Location: Pheasant Run Resort, Saint Charles, Illinois

Time: September 14th – 16th 2012

Website: http://midwestria.org

Full announcement after the page break.

St. Charles, IL – March 26th, 2011 – Midwest Brony Division and Kollision, Inc. are proud to announce their latest event, Midwestria.

Midwestria will be held on September 14th-16th at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL. Pheasant Run boasts 48,000 sq. ft. of space for amazing fan and guest-run panels, games, contests, amazing events and, of course, plenty of sing-a-longs. We’ll also have a sizable Artist Alley and Exhibit Hall where you can pick up new merch and works from your favorite artists.

To put the cherry on the cupcake, we’ll be hosting a Grand Galloping Gala in all it’s fabulous splendor and exciting outdoor events, such as the Iron Pony Competition and Running of the Leaves!

Make sure to keep an eye on www.midwestria.org for all of the up-to-date information on registration, events, guests and special promotions. You can also join in the conversation on the Midwestria forums at www.midwestria.org/forums and the Midwestria facebook at www.facebook.com/midwestria

We look forward to seeing everypony there!

I disagree that a convention should be over multiple days. If we follow that definition, the last BroNYCon would not be a convention. And it clearly was.

Well, I live in Europe, and so far there hasn’t even been a meetup where I live, and I can’t travel to USA for a brony convention. Maybe the con in Germany, if I was a little richer …

yeaaaaaah, it was borderline glorified meetup
