The Crystal Empire
by =TurboSolid

Synopsis – In Adventures in the Crystal Empire, a magical empire has suddenly appeared in the arctic north of Equestria, and PRINCESS CELESTIA needs TWILIGHT SPARKLE and her friends to find a way to protect it. While her friends try to keep the Crystal Ponies occupied at the Crystal Faire, TWILIGHT SPARKLE searches for the hidden Crystal Heart that is the key to keeping their empire safe from harm!

Welcome to the DHN Episode Guide post, I’ll explain what is up since I know our twitter feed has doubled over the summer and we probably got a fair share of new people wandering our hallways. The episode guide post will appear roughly 2 hours before the new episode (except this week as I’m posting early) and contains links to streams, and afterwards will contain links to YouTube channels and video links.

Outside of that information we also tend to post quotes or any random news about the episode that might crop up during the day (unless its earth shattering), its common for show crew to post on twitter about the new episode. Along with this post the links are also available at the top of our main feed, dubbed The Episode Board. All links are active until Monday morning, and then you must wander the internet wasteland for your pony fix.

In general the 480 version does not appear for at least 30 to 60 minutes after the episode, on at least one freak occasion during Season 2 it actually appears 10 minutes after. Quality typically varies. DHN itself produces a 480 in house. Afterwords the HD version produced by Xyro usually comes out anywhere from 2 to 4 hours afterwards, I think on average 3. Of course with this Season Premiere it will take a touch longer, this is the first time they’ve played both opening episodes on the same day.

Its also recommended that you have a few streams picked out since there is a small galaxy of issues that can arise during the episode, from lag to the probability of troll attacks on certain channels. So in short, be prepared to find another stream quickly as not to miss too much of the episode. Everyone enjoy.

  • 7/10. Not bad and good lesson for Twi. But man, the end of Sombra…what a f’ing let down.
    /He looked cool though.

    Oh, vey. The whining over the villain on the various sites is so typical of brony over-reaction and adults failing to understand the narrative point of a kids show.

    The episode was not about the King. He’s wasn’t meant to be more than a dark threatening force on the level of, say, the zombies in Walking Dead. They have 22 minutes per episode. No, they are not going to do a seven part story that delves into the King’s deep childhood traumas to satisfy geeks on the Internet who are notoriously impossible to please to the point where most people quickly learn not to bother.

    It was an excellent opening to the season. Writing and voice acting were spot on. Animation is better than ever. All the fun little bits were in place, like Pinkie’s Fluttershy costume and then the real Fluttershy’s reaction to it on the ground. Also, clear evidence that the royal sisters have some sort of plans for Twilight. Good stuff.

    Personally looking forward to the Trixie episode cause I loves me some Trixie.

      Now I know what it’s like to be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan when season 5 aired.

      Every fandom eventually starts eating itself eventually. MLP is no different.

        It’s just geeks being geeks. It’s why I consider myself a recovering ex-geek. Just couldn’t take the OCD nosie to signal level anymore.

      It’s okay to be critical, no one will revoke your fan card or whatever. IMO, this season opening was handily the worst of the three so far. Too much Twilight, too little villain development, and several of the main six were one dimensional. 22 minute episodes are capable of avoiding those problems, because they’ve done it before.

      Also Sombre looks like a bad OC pony (cheezy facial gestures, black and red, armor…), but I’m sure that’s be said a billion times.

        “Too much Twilight”

        Well…she IS the main protagonist of the series
