The newest Hub Highlights include a synopsis for Just For Sidekicks, the episode on January 26!

Check it out after the break.

Saturday, January 26:

“My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” – Hub TV Network Original Series
(New episode: 10:30-11 a.m.)

“Just For Sidekicks” – Spike finds himself in over his head after convincing Twilight and her friends to let him pet-sit all of their critters in exchange for a few gems. Rating: TV-Y

Kefka and I have been speculating whether this is the deferred episode 8, or actually episode 12 (in production order). Extrapolating from season 2, I would assume that the finale is another two-parter, but is there any sound evidence for that? This episode doesn’t sound like the first part of a two-parter to me.

Sibsy said that the delay would make sense once episode 8 aired. At least from the synopsis I can’t infer why this episode would be more appropriate for late January than for mid to late December.

Also there is Jocelan Thiessen citing “the season ender” as her favorite episode of the season, and Will Anderson revealing that the last episode had been completed first, both indicating (albeit not proving) that it is one self-contained episode.

Anything I have forgotten?

Update: Thanks to our team of Jordan Olling (Dogman15) and Garethrogue (EquestriaGuy) for these tweets. So it’s really 308. (Also confirmed by Zap2it.)

Extended synopsis (added 2013-01-11):

In an effort to get his hands on some gems, Spike decides to offer his pet-sitting services to Twilight and her friends, but after convincing them that he’s capable of such a task, he realizes too late that pet-sitting is more work that it seems.

Welp, FYI Televison (via AT&T U-verse) used more words, but this time I think there is actually less information in here as they don’t explicitly say that the critters are Owlicious at al., the pets of the main six. (It’s probably still the most likely interpretation.) Besides, “critters” is a damn cute word.

Now the question is whether the season really does end on a two-parter since we’ve yet to hear of a Rarity episode. It would either be Rarity episode + a wildcard to end the season, or a two-parter which would rule out an episode.

      * A Rarity episode.

      • Two-parter or Rarity episode… so. hard. To decide ARG!

Well the last two 2-parters were pretty lousy…

“Well the last two-parters were pretty AMAZING”

            There, corrected that for you.

  • Pingback: New Episode: “Just for Sidekicks” Synopsis, Airdate Revealed | The Round Stable()

  • I have a couple of theories.
    1. 308 is some sort of Derpy episode, that’s why it’s so secret. “The Last Roundup” aired on 1/21/12, and 308 could air on 1/12/13, which is “21” inverted to “12”.
    2. “Just for Sidekicks” is 312. They go to the Crystal Empire again, where a new stadium has been built.
    3. The season finale is not a two-parter, like “The Best Night Ever”. We’ve already seen backgrounds from episode 313. It’s a single episode all on its own that teases us for what’s to come in Season 4.

“It’ll all make sense once it airs…” oh so they’re airing the 9th episode a week early so they can show a family reunion episode during a holiday time when people typically travel to visit their families. That makes sense to me.

I think one of the last two will be a Rarity episode.

    308 is just re-ordered.
