The MLP franchise has surprisingly scored another Emmy nomination. This time, it’s for the Equestria Girls movie, “The Legend of Everfree” and the song of the same name for Best Original Song at the Daytime Emmys. It is the fourth time a song from the MLP franchise has been nominated. Both “Becoming Popular” (from “Sweet and Elite”) and “Find A Pet” (from “May the Best Pet Win”) were nominated in 2013, but lost out to “Happy Little Land of Hoboken” from The Penguins of Madagascar. Three years later, “The Magic Inside” (from “The Mane Attraction”) was nominated, but it would another DreamWorks show, All Hail King Julien and “True Bromance” that walked away with the Emmy.
This time, the DreamWorks show in opposition is Mr. Peabody and Sherman with “Morse Code”. Disney has two nominees this year—“I’m Not Very Nice” from Disney 7D and “Sisi Ni Sawa” from The Lion Guard. The PBS show Peg + Cat rounds out the nominees with “Dickinson Duet”.
The Best Original Song Emmy will most likely be awarded during the Creative Arts Emmys on Friday, April 28th. The main Daytime Emmys show will be two nights later on April 30th.
