MAD MLP Sketch #4: Dash & Bernstein

As we alerted you last week, the MAD animated series has produced another FiM-based parody sketch (the fourth to date). This one also happens to be a mash up with Disney XD’s puppet/live action show Crash & Bernstein. Most noticeably, Tara is the voice for Dash, while they also smuggle in a screen actor who was most recently known for his performance as an insurance-toting fowl. I also suspect that I spot a familiar fandom face in the snapshot montage…

End your April Fool’s fun after the break.

Well, that was….interesting – my first time ever hearing about, or watching this, series. If I’m correct, the boy is voiced by Kath Soucie, who’ve I’ve always enjoyed, while the purple puppet is, surprisingly, Gilbert Gottfried.

The humor was…well, it fits with what they show on Cartoon Network these days – I guess you have to be in the right mood. It honestly crossed my mind if this was demeaning to the fanbase, even if one of the voice actresses is on it…you can argue that it’s just a parody-series and fans need to learn to laugh at themselves, but this seemed really….I don’t know – It’s almost like the show was making fun of itself.

Well, whatever…at least Tara Strong is, as ever, showing her own devotion to the show by taking part in things like this.

Yeah I’m going to have to agree with you, they did say 20% cooler though :3

Yes they did :) – people seem to be tired of the old memes like that, but I personally could never be sick of them, no matter how often they are used.

          then you ought’a loooooove this

          • Shiek927

            That….actually…..was really really good! XD

Like I said before, you really REALLY have to be in the right kind of mood to enjoy something like this, assuming you like this kind of humor in the first place – some people don’t like seeing memes overused (or memes at all) or seeing them all played out like this…and others feel the exact opposite.

Unfortunately, with regards to Cartoon Network, I wish stuff like this was strictly secluded to Adult Swim only, or better, put it on Comedy Central…I sincerely doubt little kids will get this kind of fast-paced humor at all, and while this ‘can’ be funny, the whole network shouldn’t be filled with humor like this and that’s the impression I get every time I watch it – too many shows have this kind of humor when there needs to be more, well, smarter stuff.

it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. :)
